In short
Ayla is a period, ovulation and pregnancy tracker made by Bereket Yazılım. We do not ask you to create an account. All the health information you enter is stored only on your own phone and is never sent to us or anyone else. To improve the app we receive anonymous usage statistics that contain no health information (see below). In the free version, ads are shown by Google AdMob; Premium purchases are made through Google Play. The data those two services process is described below.
Health data stored on your phone
The following information you enter is kept only in the app's private storage on your phone:
- period dates and flow, period start time,
- symptoms, mood, discharge, sexual activity logs (this category can be hidden), physical activity,
- ovulation and pregnancy test results, medicine and birth-control pill logs,
- weight, basal body temperature, water and sleep, your notes,
- pregnancy details (last period or due date, appointments, kick and contraction logs, hospital bag list), postpartum and perimenopause logs,
- your settings and reminders.
This is sensitive (special category) personal data. When you first open the app, you are asked for explicit consent to process it only on your phone, for tracking. Forecasts, reports, symptom patterns and "Ask Ayla" answers are all computed on your phone; no internet connection is used and nothing is sent to AI services.
Your health data is never used for advertising; it is not passed to the ad service and it is never sold.
Backups
- Android Auto Backup: if Google backup is on, Android may include the app's data in your Google account's device backup. That backup is kept by Google and, on Android 9 and later with a screen lock, is end-to-end encrypted. You control it in your phone's settings.
- Encrypted backup file: created only when you ask. The file is encrypted with AES-256 under a password you choose, and you decide where to save it (e.g. Google Drive, email). We never receive your password; without it the file cannot be read.
Notifications
Reminders are scheduled and shown on your phone; their content is not sent to us. With "Discreet notifications" on, a notification only says "Ayla – You have a reminder".
App lock
Your PIN is stored on the phone only as a salted hash. Fingerprint or face unlock is handled by Android; we never access biometric data. While the lock is on, screenshots of the app are blocked and its content is hidden in the recent-apps list.
Reports and sharing
The doctor report (PDF), backup files, articles and the partner summary are created on your phone and passed only to the app you pick in the share menu. The partner summary never includes your notes or symptoms.
Anonymous usage statistics
To improve the app, only the following is sent to Bereket Yazılım's server in Istanbul (through the Cloudflare network, over an encrypted connection):
- an install number the app makes up at random, not linked to your name, email or advertising ID,
- when and how long the app is used, which main tab is opened (Today, Calendar, Reports, Articles), views of the Premium screen, purchases and rewarded ads watched,
- the app version, Android version details and device language; only the country is derived from your IP address, the address itself is not stored,
- if the app runs into an error, the type of error and where in the code it happened (no error message).
Your health information never goes into these statistics. Period dates, symptoms, notes, pregnancy details or which mode you use are never sent; our server accepts only the events above from Ayla. Ayla has no cloud save.
Detailed usage records are deleted after 180 days and only daily totals remain. You can turn these statistics off in Settings → Usage statistics and error reports.
Ads and Google AdMob
The free version is supported by ads served by Google AdMob (Google LLC / Google Ireland Limited): an app-open ad on each entry, a banner at the bottom of some screens, and a rewarded ad only when you agree. By default non-personalised ads are requested. To serve and measure ads and prevent fraud, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and process:
- the device advertising ID and other device identifiers,
- IP address and the approximate location derived from it,
- device and operating system information (model, language, screen size, etc.),
- ad interactions (impressions, clicks) and app performance/diagnostic information.
This data is processed under Google's policies: Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. Users in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent through Google's consent tool (UMP) and can change their choice in Settings → Ad privacy options. You can delete or reset your advertising ID in Android settings. Premium users see no ads.
Purchases
The Premium subscription and lifetime purchase use Google Play Billing. Payment details are handled only by Google; we never see your card. Your Premium status is checked with Google Play on your phone. Manage or cancel a subscription in Google Play → Profile → Payments & subscriptions.
In-app review
The app may open the Google Play review page. Your rating is handled directly by Google Play.
Age
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children of that age.
Deleting your data
You can permanently delete all your records with Settings → Delete all my data. Uninstalling the app also deletes the data on the phone. The anonymous usage records on our server cannot be linked to you; their details are deleted automatically after 180 days. You manage any backup files you created and your Google device backup.
Security
Your health data lives in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot access, and is protected by Android's device encryption. The app uses the internet only for ads, Google Play purchases and anonymous usage statistics, over encrypted connections (HTTPS). The app does not request location, contacts, camera or microphone permissions.
Medical notice
Ayla is for information only; it does not diagnose or recommend treatment and cannot be used as birth control. Ask your doctor about decisions concerning your health.
Your rights (GDPR and KVKK)
Send questions about your rights under the GDPR and Turkey's Personal Data Protection Law (KVKK) to the email address below. Because your health data is only on your phone, you can exercise your rights of access, correction and deletion directly in the app. Google's tools apply to data processed by Google.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always published on this page with its effective date above.
